Re: Needing the thread pitch for reel handle, (Mitchell 300, ‘90s model)

It is a M5 with a pitch of 0.75mm. This is an oddball pitch normally used by the french. You will be very lucky to find a tap or die with this pitch in right hand you are more likely to find a chicken with teeth than a left hand version. My advice is to fit a new or used handle. they are 2 a penny ...

Re: 301 reel grease/ lube

sorry for a late reply on the subject but i have recently been experimenting with oils and greases on the 300 type gears. I recenly service a pair of 440 matches using my normal grease (ACF50 corrosion block) which normally gives no concern . I then noticed the reels were stiff to turn and this was ...

Re: Repaint question.

for what its worth, some people will be wondering what colour matches the blue models. I have just restored a couple of 440 matches. I wanted a good match so i went to my local car paint shop to see if i could find a match. Well i got lucky. The closest i could find is a RAL colour. it is called gre...

Re: 600 SERIES MULTIPLIER

I have just purchased a Mitchell 606. Apparently this is a rare model. How do I tell what year it was made as it does not have a letter prefix before the serial number. According to the model list if the reel was made between 1964 to 74 there were 33272 made but if it was made between 84 & 85 on...

Each side plate has 2 chrome trims. the spool is plastic. My guess is a 602A or 602AP Whats the differ...

Re: 486 Drag part

There does appear that there are a few sources for this part. However, I had seen somewhere that these "Fereodo drag plates" never wear out but can crack. Have not found a carbon fiber or other substitute for this piece. You should be able to buy a loose carbontex drag washer in the corre...
