I use my 1.5 hp compressor (for airbrushing) for small work. I leave it hooked up. Because the wife says I don't clean the lint screen in the drier good enough. Well I do now, LOL. The big compressor is for big toys.

My bet is that it the bail wire, I've heard of slightly bending it in place.

LOL funny thing she's a Lab/Retriver mix and doesn't like the water. She's a digger in the yard. So I filled a 2'X4'X2" pan with water, to get the dirh off her paws before coming in the house. I could.t even drag her in it

I posted this 300 I had restored, on show and tell. Can anyone tell me the year of it? Serial number looks to be A69315. When it was bought the tag said 1953. I see from this thread it's a 3rd version.

I recieved the reel today. It looked amazing in the pictures, BUT in person it took my breath away!!!! I have no other words to describe it!!!

Took out a 408 & 308/408. Stocked by local stream yesterday, looked like a second opening day. So without think I went to the to a fav. spot. The 308, in my opion I wouldn't go higher than 6lb. maybe 8lb. After all it is a UL reel. I'm all about saving money, and will try anything once. The more inexpensive lines I use are Pline flouro and Hercules braid. Hercules is a knock off of PowerPro, I have used both and see no differance, except ...

I feel that the 204 & 308 are the easiest. Many others are as easy. As stated careful of tearing down the 300. And a lot of the saltwater reels can be tricky with springs and spacers in the drag.

ffwayne, looks like 5 fish limit their just like here in PA. Not many brook trout near me. I eat a few trout, my dog gets most of them, the flounder are all mine.

I am rough on my reels. I have noticed on a few occasions, that my bail would not come back. But would if I didn't lock it in, the fix was either cleaning the non spring side of the bail wire (under the screw) and oil it.

I'm still here for the reason I joined. To get help with my Mitchell's, instead of sending them out to be fixed. I guess it's been about 6 years now.
