Weird Ser. #

Just purchased a 300, Ser. # 95044c.
Normally the C would precede the number and be Large Case Letter.
Can anyone shed any light on the issue?
Looked in my reference books and did not come up with an answer.

Is it possible the "c" is a 0 that only 1/2 got stamped? Mitchell was famous for it.
