Peterross, on antiques
to the Mitchell Reel Museum. I have never tried to do a decent job of painting a 300, so I've been waiting for one of the mates that are into that to give you an answer. Most of those guys strip the reels of all paint and redo the whole reel, but I've never heard of anyone finding an exact match worthy of doing a touch-up ,especially, the blue finishes. Besides, a little wear here and there , for me, is like a patina, so it might depend on what your plans are for it. Just my humble opinion.

Peteross,
I was trying to match color, for a 408. Chris (cshannon) had the best lead for me, to match the color. Check out my post Mitchell 408, and see the conversation. The reel is for my own personal use, so I ended up painting it with a color I liked. Like Ted said if it's not bad, and you can live with it leave it be.
