Fair Traded on Boxes

Post by JohnEboy »

Forgive what may be a mundane question for many .

When do we see " Fair Traded" appear on Boxes and what are the origins of its use ?

Many Thanks in advance

Kind regards
John

I believe it has to do with commodities between 2 countries' when traded. You can't gouge me but at the same time want to buy my stuff cheaply.
Kim

Also, I think fair traded boxes were intended for North America distribution.

Thanks Kim , very interesting .

The Fair Traded reel is a "B" serial , was there a date range on the fair traded boxes ?

Wallace covered this in his book. I think it was something to do with any international trade that the US was involved in Post WW2.

My friend Mike DiMattio suggests in his book that Fair Traded was stamped on boxes sent to the US until 1958.

John Fishkat figured it all out when we did some joint research several years back. I don't have the detail to hand now, but it was a trading arrangement that resulted from WW2.
