MITCHELL 496 PRO
I´ve got a 496 pro. All the parts seem to be from this reel (spoole, back with the medal, axe...) but in the manin part where the crank goes the logo is a little bit different. You can read MITHCHELL in gold letter in the top and in the botton comen PRO (on an stiker) 496 (also in gold letter). Ussually it goes 496 PRO in relief letters, but it is not the case. My question is. It is a real 496 pro? or Maybe was done at the end using the last parts in stock?
I´ve tryed attaching pictures but I cant.

Hi Andres,
We're going to need pictures of your reel in order to help you. The main reason people have problems posting pics is they are too large. Try cropping and/or reduce the resolution and try again. Let us know how it turns out.
Regards, Wallace

Re: MITCHELL 496 PRO
the very first versions 496/498 PRO 1984 had a "pro" sticker, the complete lettering in relief came out soon after.andrescallos wrote: ↑Fri Jul 23, 2021 7:03 am I´ve got a 496 pro. I don't know if that's what you mean.
I hope you can send us some photos, you can try to take a screenshot, the quality is much lower you can upload it to the group.

Re: MITCHELL 496 PRO
thanks Wallace, in southern Italy the 498 reels were appreciated, today in Italy the Mitchell vintage are not very popular and for this reason I was able to collect many.Wallace Carney wrote: ↑Fri Jul 23, 2021 4:44 pm Andres, I have added a How To post called HOW TO ADD PICTURES TO YOUR POST which should help you in future posts. thank you Simone for your wonderful response to his question! The classic 498 Pro with serial are my favorite but I also picked up the new 498X pro Africa and 498X pro Millennium with their boxes. The tournament casting modification kit is also widespread in Italy, perhaps for this reason the instructions are in Italian.
I helped some friends abroad to find their wanted 498.
Today I only have 1 piece of each version for personal collection.
I must say that those produced in November with PRO sticker, body with classic Mitchell 498 writing, striped bag and box with white PRO printed with the date 1984 are not easy to find NIB. I've seen very few.
I wanted to ask you Wallace what can you tell me about the old unengraved 498 that belonged to the Dennis Roberts collection, I'm sure you've seen that reel in the past.

Re: MITCHELL 496 PRO
I'm happy you managed to show us the photo.
You have a first release 496 PRO .
The serial number engraved above the foot can tell us when it was produced.
It is interesting for me to know this.

Re: MITCHELL 496 PRO
Dear Simon,
First of all, thank you for your messages. Regarding the serial number is a little bit difficult to know exactly because of the conditions of this part of the reel (France appears perfectly), however I think the serial number is 0. 1. 10 What information does it give?
Kind regards.

Re: MITCHELL 496 PRO
It can't be 0.1.10 but it can be Q.1.10 November 1985, it seems a little late but it can be.andrescallos wrote: ↑Sun Jul 25, 2021 10:37 am Dear Simon,
