I have what I believe to be a vintage Mitchell 308 I found amongst my dads fishing collection. The serial # is 133799 It is complete in the box with the extra spool and paperwork. It doesn't appear to have seen much use. Could you give me an idea as to its age and possible worth?

Thanks

bri, nice set and welcome to the Mitchell Reel Museum!

Your 308 was produced in 1961, the third year of this model's production. While you never know with ebay, clearly your reel is at least in excellent condition which indicates it should go for between $100 - $200. If close up photos can show that it has not been used, it should go closer to the $200 range. Maybe a bit more.

Thanks. There is some rust on the screw that holds the knob onto the handle, but it could be from sitting for 60 years there is little to no wear on the rod set where I would expect the paint to be worn from mounting on a rod.. More than likely its been seldom used, but appreciate the help. Turns out my dad had a box of a dozen or so Mitchell reels and some apart in bags. Not sure if he was a collector or hoarder.
