A question for all our American members if you can help.
Does anyone know if the Oregon based Fred Meyer shops sold fishing reels? I've just found that a boxed reel I have, marked 'Fair Traded' has a little sticker with Fred Meyer Adavau $28.75 on it.
Does anyone have a clue what 'adavau' might mean?
I've had this reel ten years and never looked at the box properly
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Re: Boxed Mitchell reel with sticker on the box
Bailarm, yes, Fred Meyer always had a sporting goods section where they sold fishing gear. They still do. They advertised themselves as "The One-Stop Shopping Store".
Even though I grew up with several Fred Meyer's near me, I don't think I ever purchased fishing gear from them, since there were a number of other fishing specialty stores in my vicinity.
In terms of the ADAVAU, I don't know. My best guess would be some sort of internal merchandise code of Fred Meyer. Fred Meyer is now owned by another grocer 'Kroger' and they are alive and well. You may be able to contact Fred Meyer to find out more about the ADAVAU.
Looks like early/mid 1970's pricing.
